It’s 2024. It’s time to stop being scared of a lip tatt0o and learn about the newest technique…
Lip Blush.
It all begins on a morning when your lipstick is applied perfectly, then your hair hits your lips and boom, now you have liptstick on your cheek.
maybe you are tired of looking in the mirror each morning and feeling like you have to swipe on some tinted lip balm before you step foot outside.
Whatever your reason may be, Lip blush is the newest style of cosmetic tattoo that enhances your natural shape and gives you a kiss of color that can be worn with moisturizing lip balm or given a bold look with a swipe of color. It’s up to you!
-
Dulce lips
Lip blushing, is a tattooing technique designed to enhance the natural color and shape of your mouth. Using a method called pixelating, the artist deposits mini, almost undetectable dots of pigment giving a wash of color to your lips. This results in a color that looks as if it could be your own—but with a boost. Because this is a translucent style, you can still alter the color with a liquid lipstick if you want.
-
Velvet Lips
Velvet Lips are the bold sister to Dulce Lips. Using the same pixilation technique, but inserting the pigment in a more concentrated style, you can achieve a bright and bold lip all day everyday. This style is suited for someone who has a “signature lipstick” color. Meaning you wear the same color, or very similar color on a regular basis. This opaque style makes it difficult to change the color with traditional lipstick especially if you want a lighter hue.

How to prepare for your appointment
If you’ve decided to book your lip blush appointment it’s important to follow these pre-care instructions leading up to your appointment.
-
•Stop using any Retin-A or Retinols.
•Botox and fillers should be performed 3-4 weeks before or after your treatment.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you have a history of cold sores you'll need to contact your physician to start taking an anti-viral prescription (Valacyclovir, Denavir (penciclovir), Valtrex or acyclovir (Zovirax)), at least a week BEFORE your proposed procedure.
Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips and skin. Therefore if you are a carrier, lip blush will likely cause an outbreak if you do not take an anti-viral medication prior.
-
•Avoid tanning.
•Any tweezing, threading or waxing of the lip area should be done at 5 days before your appointment.
•Hydrated lips are necessary to receive the best results. Drink a lot of water leading up to your appointment.
•Use a lip scrub once a day for 3 days before your procedure.
-
•No alcohol or caffeine.
•Avoid aspirin, fish oil, and niacin.
•Drink lots of water and use Chapstick to ensure lips are moisturized properly.
•Double check your GPS to ensure you arrive to your appointment on time.
-
•Dress comfortably.
•Eat something before your appointment.
•Please don't wear foundation. Eyeliner and lashes/mascara is fine.
•No coffee or energy drinks before your appointment.
•Feel free to bring a set of headphones to listen to during the procedure.
•Take a non-aspirin pain reliever upon arrival if you have a low pain tolerance.

What will the healing process look like?
Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, other procedures, and age of the skin all contribute to fading and outcome.
Every individual’s skin is different; therefore, the initial application is always applied conservatively. The lip blushing procedure is not complete after the first initial session. The final color can be adjusted during a second “perfecting” appointment.
A second session appointment is required approximately 8 weeks after your first initial application to ensure longevity and best results.
Though rare, infection is possible if aftercare is not handled correctly and with caution. If you see signs of infection, such as persistent increased redness or swelling, fever, drainage, or oozing, please contact your doctor immediately.
Please remember that individual results will vary from
person to person.
-
•Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw.
•Keep lips moist at all times.
•When your lips start to shed, DO NOT pick, peel, or pull on the skin.
•Do NOT touch, bite or scratch your lips – touching or picking may cause irritation, infection & loss of pigment.
•No exercise for at least 2-5 days after your treatment due to sweating. Gentle exercise is okay after the first few days.
•Avoid kissing for 3-4 days.
•Do not put lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss, cleansers, lotions etc. on or close to your lips for 1-2 weeks to avoid irritation and cross contamination.

•Right after the procedure: Lips appear bold and brighter than what it will heal to. It will heal between 40-60% lighter and softer. Lips will be slightly swollen and tender. Color will darken (oxidize) as the day goes on.
•Day 2: Lips are darker and may still be a little swollen. Lips are feeling tight and dry.
•Days 3-6: Skin is flaking and scabbing and the color is fading.
•Days 7-13: Lips start to feel normal and the flaking is gone.
•Day 14: Lips have completely healed but the color is much lighter than after the procedure.
•Day 28-42: The color has come back! There may be some uneven spots/patchiness. Between 6-8 weeks is the perfect time for a perfecting session!
